Soldier’s Medal
Citation: Under the provisions of AR 600-45, 22 September 1944, Private First Class John Lo Frese, 12017830, Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Third Battalion, 16th Infantry, is awarded the Soldier’s Medal for heroism in the vicinity of Nicosia, Sicily, 4 August 1943. When a vehicle had caught fire after contacting an enemy mine, Private Lo Frese fearlessly proceeded to the aid of the driver whose clothing was aflame. Private Lo Frese’s display of coolness an quick thinking, despite burns on his hands and arms, saved the man from serious injury. Residence at enlistment: Jamaica, L. I., N. Y.
